#4- Trevor Story
The Colorado Rockies mainstay has put together a really solid tenure in Colorado over the years. Story was a main target at the trade deadline throughout the MLB, but he ended up not getting traded and will hit free agency.
The 28 year old is a 2x National League all star and a 2x Silver Slugger, but is yet to win a Golg Glove.
Story put together a decent season in 2021. He hit 24 home runs, totaled 75 RBI’s, batted .251, had an OPS of .801, wRC+ of 100, and a 3.5 WAR. Story brings some pop to the batters box, as he is in the 74th percentile for Avg Exit Velocity. His 23.4% strikeout rate is concerning though.
Many fans talk about the consistency of Story. When he was at home at Coors Field, he batted .296 with an OPS of .880 with 11 homers and 47 RBI. When he was not at Coors Field there was a bit of a disparaging difference. On the road, Story batted .203 with an OPS of .717 and 13 homers with 28 RBI’s.
The inconsistency Story showed on the road is alarming, and it makes you think. How would he fare at Yankee Stadium? Trevor Story is a good player don’t get me wrong. He is an upgrade at shortstop compared to Gleyber Torres in my opinion, but if I were Brian Cashman I’d show more interest towards the top of the shortstop class.
the contract for either Seager or Correa will be excessive.
might be better to bring in a kid such as CJ Abrams
