Yankees Sweep The Marlins

The Yankees started a three game series against the Marlins, their first series with Gallo and Rizzo and it looked like a new team.

The new look Yankees marched into Miami and swept the Marlins and the team is starting to look like the team we expected them to be. Anthony Rizzo continued to hit the ball as he added an RBI single in the third game. He also homered in the first two games of the series.

Joey Gallo finally got his first hit which was a double, but he continues to put up great at bats and his production will come. It is crazy to see how the Yankees lineup looks once it finally got two good lefties in the lineup. It provides balance to the lineup and makes it more deadly.

For the first two games, Judge was in between Gallo and Rizzo which caused nightmares for the pitcher as the more pitches Judge saw, the better Rizzo got to see the pitcher. It resulted in two bombs. The Yankees now begin a homestand against the O’s and the Mariners, with a chance to really make some ground in the Wildcard race.

The Red Sox’s have just been swept by the Rays and they have looked awful post deadline and the Yankees sit just four games back in the loss column. If the Yankees continue to play good baseball not only will the Wildcard be easy to get into but they may have a shot at the division.
