Round 6 (196): Shi Smith, WR South Carolina
The additions of Kenny Golladay and John Ross could very well mean the Giants pass on a receiver round one and wait for a late-round steal. If that is indeed the plan as this mock draft suggests, South Carolina’s Shi Smith would be a welcomed Day 3 addition.
Playing in the SEC, Smith caught 57 passes for 633 yards and four touchdowns for the Gamecocks last season, assuring four years of at least 409 receiving yards. He also played a key role in the kick return game during his college career as he returned 27 kicks for an average of 16.6 yards, including a career-long 62-yard return in 2018.
At 5-foot-10, Smith likely would be a slot option for the Giants who can provide home run ball ability and be a key contributor in a kick return game that has struggled in recent years.
