The Yankees are already 11 games into their 2021 season and Aaron Judge is already injured. Judge has been experiencing soreness in his oblique which was the same oblique he injured last year that kept him out for a good amount of the 60-game shortened season. Judge’s injury history has raised concerns with a possible contract extension coming for him in the near future to keep him in pinstripes for his whole career. With this now, Doses Judge deserves a contract extension in the next two years that may cost the Yankees more than $100 million for a star player who is consistently injured and is never on the field for a full 162 games.
Judge and his Stellar Start
Judge has been the face of this franchise ever since he got called up to play and homered in his Yankees debut at Yankee Stadium. From that moment to now, he has earned the Yankees and the fan’s support as he has quickly become the new face of the franchise and even has a section in the stadium dedicated to himself that we all know as “The Judge’s Chambers”. No other Yankees player has had a section of the stadium dedicated to himself and Judge has that so the Yankees want to keep him in pinstripes for the rest of his life, but at this current moment in time, the decision on his contract is not as easy as it seems. Judge’s injury history is a major concern in his career. Judge has not played in many games since his rookie season where he tore up the league and took the league by storm and won the Rookie-Of-The-Year. For now, it is the waiting game for the Yankees to decide whether or not a contract extension is worth it.
