Tropicana Field has been a house of horrors for the Yankees in recent years, but some good moments have sprinkled into the bad.
The New York Yankees will play their first road series of the 2021 season this weekend when they travel south to St. Petersburg to take on the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field.
The Trop has not been kind to Bombers in recent years as the last time they won a season-series in Tampa was 2015 and before that 2009. However, there have been some fun Yankee victories in recent years at Tropicana Field to look back on.
Here are the three best Yankee Tropicana Field moments since Aaron Boone took over as Yankees manager in 2018:
3. Yankees celebrate July 4 with extra inning win at Trop (2019)
While many spent July 4 of 2019 at an outdoor Barbecue, the Yankees spent Day indoors at Tropicana Field matched up with the division-rival Rays.
The Yankees fell behind 1-0 early, but in the top of the third Mike Tauchman hit an RBI single and Aaron Hicks ripped an RBI double to put the Bombers in front.
New York extended their lead in the top of the seventh as Edwin Encarnacion drilled a solo home run pushing the lead to 3-1.
Looking to close the door, Aroldis Chapman ran into trouble in the bottom of the ninth as Joey Wendle hit an RBI double and Guillermo Heredia scored on a wild pitch tying the game at three.
In the top of the 10th, the Yankees picked Chapman up as they exploded for five runs behind a two-run DJ LeMahieu single and two-run home run by Gary Sanchez. Luis Cessa would give the Rays a run back in the bottom of the 10th, but with two out, David Hale entered and earned the save by inducing a Yandy Diaz ground out.
Final Score: Yankees 8, Rays, 4 F/10
