After falling 7-3 to the Rays at Tropicana Field on what would be the final Opening Day of the Joe Girardi era, the Yankees bounced back two days later.

C.C. Sabathia tossed five scoreless innings and was followed by Bryan Mitchell, Tyler Clippard, Jonathan Holder, Dellin Betances and Aroldis Chapman, who tossed four combined innings in relief to hold the Rays scoreless.

At the dish, the Yankees struck for five runs with home runs off the bat of Ronald Torreyes and Headley as the Yanks blanked Tampa 5-0 to avenge their Opening Day loss. The following day they’d suffer a 4-1 loss as they dropped their opening series for the fourth time in five years.

Game 2:  Yankees 5, Rays, 0
