Yankees: 3 Most Disappointing Players of 2020

The season has not gone the way the Yankees envisioned it and many players are not playing well, but who has been the most disappointing

The Yankees currently sit at 25-21 and are in third place in the AL East. Going into the season the Yankees were expected to win the division, but that has been sidetracked due to injuries and a horrific slump. Unlike last year, The Yankees have been unable to perform well with the next man up players and this is due in part to three players extremely underperforming. Let’s take a look at the three most disappointing players this year.

Gary Sanchez

Gary Sanchez has looked completely lost this year and that is an understatement. The Gary that almost won Rookie of the Year is 2016 and followed it up with an incredible year in 2017, is still missing. Gary had a terrible year in 2018 but showed signs of being back in the first half of 2019 before slumping to end the year. No one expected Gary being this bad this year and it has gotten to the point where Erik Kratz is providing more value at the plate.

So far in 2020, Gary is slashing .125/.234/.321 with 14 hits, one double, seven home runs, and 15 RBIs. Gary has struck out 52 times in 112 at-bats. He is striking out 46% of the time. The Yankees need Gary to at least be a shell of himself if they want to make a deep run.
