Dylan Bundy

When the Angels signed Bundy in the offseason, no one really paid attention to it. He had a 4.67 career ERA with the O’s and was starting to look like a bust. Mickey Callaway has been able to turn around Bundy’s career and he is having a career year in 2020. Currently, Bundy is 3-2 with a 2.58 ERA with 44 strikeouts in 38 innings. Bundy’s problem was that he was giving up the long ball too much. In 2018 he gave up 41 bombs in 31 starts. This year though it seems that he has fixed that issue as he has only given up four bombs. The Angels have already shown they are up for trading and with Bundy being a rental, it shouldn’t take too much to bring him to New York.

Kevin Gausman

Gausman is the most interesting one out of the three, he has amazing stuff and recently has shown the ability to put it together again. The issue is, his ERA at first glance isn’t the best. In 2020, Gausman is 1-2 with a 4.54 ERA and has struck out 48 batters in 35.2 innings. That isn’t a super pretty number to look at, but Gausman has great stuff and that is reflected in his FIP. FIP is fielding independent pitching, which is just how effective a pitcher is at limiting home runs, walks, HBP’s while causing strikeouts. The Average FIP is the same as the average ERA and Gausman owns a 3.32 FIP. Gausman has great strikeout stuff and would be a great project for Matt Blake, but he is a rental so he would need to act fast to impress the Yankees.
