Deivi Garcia shined in his MLB debut with the Yankees on Sunday afternoon against the New York Mets, going six strong innings.
One of the Yankees’ top pitching prospects, Deivi Garcia, made his debut on Sunday afternoon against the Mets and pitched six solid innings with no earned runs and only four hits. However, upon further review, it looks like Garcia might have been sporting Yankees’ ace Gerrit Cole’s belt during the start.
Gerrit Cole does, in fact, where uniform number 45 for the Yankees so it is very likely that Deivi could have left his belt at the alternate site and Cole was nice enough to let him borrow his own. It’s the little things that count.
Hopefully, in the coming days, we could find out some more information regarding the belt conspiracy, and based on his debut performance, Cole better let Garcia use his belt again the next time he toes the rubber in the Bronx.
UPDATE: After just speaking with Deivi, he was able to confirm that he wore the belt in honor of his idol Pedro Martinez.
