Yankees: Power Ranking the Scheduled Opponents

The Meaning of “Underdog” and the 2019 Washington Nationals ...

4. Washington Nationals

The reigning World Series Champions will host the Yankees on July 23 to kick off the season. Although the Nats did bring back Stephen Strasburg to a monster contract, they did lose All-Star third baseman Anthony Rendon, as he signed with the Los Angeles Angels. The Nationals did try to compensate with smaller, solid players like Starlin Castro and Eric Thames, but the loss of Rendon is going to hurt. Plus, the Nats didn’t do a ton to address their bullpen, with the exception of Will Harris, which struggled heavily in the regular season. Having said all this, Juan Soto, Max Scherzer, and Strasburg are all superstars, and they certainly are a dangerous team in 2020.
