Yankee Stadium, the home of the New York Yankees, is set to convert to a drive-in movie theater as part of the “Uptown Drive-In Experience”.
We all know Yankee Stadium as one of the most famous baseball parks in the world, but it looks like it may be taking a different form this summer due to COVID-19.
According to Max Goodman of Sports Illustrated, the parking lot outside of Yankee Stadium will be converted into a drive-in movie theater this summer.
If baseball games are being played at the stadium this summer, it is unlikely that the drive-in will have any impact on that since fans will not be allowed inside of the park anyway. There will be more events along with the drive-in movies including live concerts, games, giveaways, and raffles.
This production is being put together by MASC Hospitality Group. Events will be planned on weekends as well as some family-friendly activities during the week.
Personally, if it was up to me, all of the drive-in movie nights would just be Yankees classics. Regardless, the hope is still that games will be played in Yankee Stadium in 2020 as long as MLB can come to an agreement with the players’ association.
