Yankees: 3 Free Agents To Target Next Winter

Even though the 2020 season may not even happen, we have next offseason to look forward to and figure out which players the Yankees should target.

The 2020 season is staring at us right in the eyes. It is so close, yet so far. Even though the 2020 regular season has not started yet, the Yankees are always keeping their eye on next year’s free agent class. Although the players are not working, they are still being compensated and paid for their service time. The 2021 free agent class brings tons of talent and potential to the Yankees squad.

This may lead to new acquisitions, re-signings, and subtractions. DJ LeMahieu, J.A. Happ, Masahiro Tanaka, and Brett Gardner may all potentially become free agents at the end of the 2020 season if their options are not picked back up by the Yankees.

Three possible players that the Yankees should go after next winter are DJ LeMahieu, Masahiro Tanaka, and J.T. Realmuto.

1. DJ LeMahieu

LeMahieu impressed the Yankees fan base during his 2019 campaign by putting together a career year. He had a .327 average, 197 hits, 26 home runs, 102 RBI, and finished with a .893 OPS. He placed fourth in the American League MVP race last season and can flat out rake and not to mention, he has a pretty nice glove too. New York needs to re-sign this man as soon as possible.

He is the best everyday player and hitter on the team. He can also play a variety of positions and will always give his all every time he steps on the diamond. There is absolutely no reason at all, why the Yankees should not re-sign LeMahieu.
