3. OF Brett Gardner: one-year, $8 million
Lastly, one player I can see the Yankees bringing back as insurance is Brett Gardner. Gardner has been with the Yankees for more than 10 years now and has been a veteran leader for the young guys. This past season, Gardy batted .251, with a career high 28 HR and had 74 RBIs.
After the 2018 season, the Yankees wasted no time and re-signed Gardner to a one-year, $7.5 million dollar contract. So far this offseason, the only thing we heard about the Yankees and Gardner was stated back in the beginning of November. I definitely do see the Yankees bringing back Gardner, but I think their main focus is Cole and until Cole signs, Yankees will be in no rush with Gardner.
