New York Yankees: 3 Bold Free Agency Predictions

The 2019-20 MLB offseason is upon us and the hot stove is heating up, so let’s make some predictions for the New York Yankees.

So far, some key free agents have already signed with other teams. One pitcher is already off the market. Zach Wheeler has signed a five-year, $118 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies and the Cincinnati Reds have signed infielder Mike Moustakas to a four-year, $64 million deal. However, nothing yet from the New York Yankees.

This offseason is very different than last year. Teams are signing players and making moves left and right early. Teams are willing to spend big money but the question is, are the Yankees finally going to make a big splash in free agency?

With all rumors circulating, here are my predictions on who the Yankees will sign before the 2020 season:

Honorable Mention: OF, Nicholas Castellanos four-years, $60 million

The Yankees are known to have a lot of outfield depth, but injuries hit the team hard last season. With Hicks out and Stanton most likely being the teams DH, Castellanos will be perfect in the Yankees lineup. After playing his first half of baseball with the Detroit Tigers and then being dealt to the Chicago Cubs, Castellanos really stepped up his game. Combined for both teams batted .289, with 27 HR and 73 RBIs. With his bat and the short porch at Yankee Stadium, I can definitely see Castellanos being a great addition to the OF and definitely help this team win.

  1. I’d be thrilled to have Betances back and Gardy! I don’t believe Cole is a happening thing and I don’t care about Castellanos one way or the other.
