3 Bold Trades The Yankees Can Make This Offseason

What bold trades could the Yankees make to bolster their roster in 2020? We put on our GM hats and make up some bold moves they might make.

With the general managers’ meetings now in the books, we at least know the Yankees will be going after big-names on this year’s free-agent market. However, we also know that Brain Cashman is never opposed to using the trade market during the off-season to upgrade his roster.

Yankees Finally Land Robbie Ray, But Also Add Marte

Diamondbacks Get: OF Clint Fraizer, 3B Miguel Andujar & RHP Luis Gil

Yankees Get: SP Robbie Ray & IF/CF Ketel Marte

There’s no doubt the Yankees need another starting pitcher. They attempted to land the Diamondbacks Robbie Ray at last year’s trade deadline but could not get the job done.

This off-season they should again go after the former all-star but also try to land speedster Ketel Marte who quietly put up MVP like numbers for Arizona slashing .329/.389/.981 with 32 home runs. New York could move Marte to second base or even play him in center with Aaron Hicks out.

To land Marte and Ray, the Yankees should part ways with Clint Fraizer and Miguel Andujar, who both are not needed long-term and pitching prospect Luis Gil to give the Diamondbacks an arm to eventually replace Ray.
