The New York Yankees have a big offseason ahead, and Giancarlo Stanton wants both Gerrit Cole and Stephen Strasburg among the free agents brought it.
As the MLB offseason continues to get underway, many are wondering just how active the New York Yankees will be in free agency. This is especially true when it comes to the big names like Gerrit Cole and Stephen Strasburg.
While the Yankees are no longer a team that spends freely, outfielder Giancarlo Stanton knows who he wants the organization to pursue. Most would believe the Bronx Bombers to potentially pursue one of Cole or Strasburg.
Stanton is campaigning for the front office to get both as he told TMZ. Talk about the dream scenario for Yankees fans.
Both Cole and Strasburg are unrestricted free agents this offseason. Cole’s contract ended with the Houston Astros following the season while Strasburg used his player option to excercise an opt-out—making him an unrestricted free agent.
It remains to be seen if the Yankees will go after one of these star arms—let alone both—but Stanton wouldn’t be worried about adding them to an already potent roster.
