The Yankees Continue To Battle The Injury Bug

With four Yankees set to return three more suffered injuries during their double-header sweep of the Tigers.

This week finally brought good injury news for the New York Yankees. Aaron Boone announced Jordan Montgomery would make his season debut Sunday, Luis Severino would make his return Tuesday and both Dellin Betances and Giancarlo Stanton would return next week.

Instead, it is now a mix of good and bad news. During a doubleheader in Detroit Thursday the Yankees saw Edwin Encarnacion, Gary Sanchez, and J.A. Happ all suffer injuries that will force them to return to New York for further evaluation.

Yankees: Who Starts ALDS Game One?

Encarnacion who has been on a tear since returning from a fractured wrist on September 3rd suffered a strained left oblique. Sanchez suffered yet another groin strain, and Happ who’s pitched as good as anyone in baseball of late has bicep tendinosis.

Clearly, the injury bug is still casting its spell over the 2019 Yankees who miraculous enter Friday with baseballs best record at 97-51.
There have been no timetables yet for any of the three Yankees with updates likely to come tomorrow.
