The Yankees Head To Boston For A Surprisingly Not So Important September Series

For the final time, this season the New York Yankees are Boston bound as they get set to open a four-game series with the Red Sox.

When every Yankee and Red Sox fan and player looked at their team’s respective schedules, they figured the AL East title could be on the line. That’s not exactly the case however as if the Yankees take at least three games the Red Sox would be eliminated from the AL East race with three weeks of baseball still to be played.

It’s quite shocking what has happened to the defending champion Red Sox. Their offense has been as advertised as they are third in baseball in runs scored. However, despite the same rotation that led the team to 108 wins and a world championship the team’s playoff hopes are all but over.

By winning or even sweeping the series, the Yankees could all but officially end the Red Sox season. Can they get the job done?

The Red Sox will have two bullpen days to open the series and then Rick Porcello and Eduardo Rodriguez to close it out. For the Yankees, it’ll be Domingo German, J.A. Happ who was fantastic in his last start, Masahiro Tanaka and James Paxton who’s among the hottest pitchers in baseball.

What Can Dellin Betances Bring To The Yankees?

It’s quite a surprise this series won’t mean more, and it’s honestly disappointing. It’s a great thing for baseball to have a meaningful Red Sox Yankee series in September. However, in reality, this series only means something to one team. That’s the Red Sox who are trying to save their season somehow.
