3 Relief Pitchers The Yankees Should Trade For

The trade deadline is quickly approaching and the Yankees are in the market to acquire any and all starting pitching, but who fits in the best?

It was reported yesterday by Jon Heyman that the Yankees would like one starter and 1-2 bullpen arms. The bullpen arms honestly came as a surprise as the Yankees bullpen has been great this year. But we all trust Brian Cashman, so here are three relievers the Yankees should trade for.

Shane Greene

The first option for the Yankees is actually a former and the guy that we traded to get Didi. Shane Greene is having an unbelievable year for the Tigers this year. This year Shane Greene is 22/24 in save opportunities and owns a 1.03 ERA. Shane has only given up four earned runs all year (35 IP). Greene was a former draft pick of the Yankees and he has come out of nowhere to become one of the leagues best pitchers this year. It will take a lot to get him and he won’t be a closer for the team but if the Yankees somehow get Greene it will make our team a lot scarier.

Ken Giles

Who would have thought that the Yankees would have interest in Ken Giles? The same man that they made punch himself last year. A lot of reports have said that the Blue Jays want to trade Stroman and Giles in a package deal.

Yankees: Aaron Boone Has Proved Doubters Completely Wrong

The Yankees have expressed a ton of interest in Stroman, so a Stroman and Giles package is definitely something that the Yankees would like to get. This year Giles has been almost untouchable. He is 13/14 in save opportunities and owns a 1.69. Getting Giles will only make this team better and further increase our chance to win it all.

Alex Colomé

Alex Colomé has had a sneaky good season this year on another bad White Sox. He has slowly returned to his all-star form. So far this year Colomé is 20/21 in save opportunities and owns a very solid 2.39 ERA. Colomé wouldn’t serve as a closer but would be another great arm to have in the already deadly Yankees bullpen.

Any of these bullpen arms would make the Yankees better than they already are.
