It is officially MLB trade deadline season and with the Yankees in the market for starting pitching, it’s time to rank the best available starters.
It is no secret that the Yankee need to upgrade their rotation before the deadline. We don’t know at this point if we will get the real Sevy back if he returns. Also, the rotation hasn’t been consistent. There are several good options out there for the Yankees to get before the deadline. Here are the best three pitchers out there, ranked.
1. Marcus Stroman
The Yankees have been linked to Stroman this year and it makes a ton of sense. After having an awful injury plagued 2018, Stroman is back to showing just have good he can be. So far this year Stroman owns a 3.18 ERA. and has struck out 81 batters in 104 innings. But what is most important with Stroman is that he keeps the ball in the park. He has only allowed 10 homers in 104 innings this season. To pitch in New York you gotta keep the ball in the park.
2. Trevor Bauer
It was reported that during Trevor Bauer’s last start, the Yankees had Cashman right-hand man attendance for the game. In that game, Trevor Bauer spun seven terrific innings of one-run baseball and striking out nine. This season Bauer is 8-6 with a 3.61 ERA. Trevor Bauer is a pitcher you want on your team he has postseason experience and is an innings eater. Also, the Yankees did sign someone from driveline baseball which is the place that Trevor Bauer works out during the off-season.
3. Madison Bumgarner
Now some may be surprised why I put Madbum at #3. But the reason why he is at #3 is by putting away his past postseason success and focusing on just this year specifically, he is on the decline. His fastball velocity is coming down and he’s giving up home runs at a higher pace than in previous years. Many people wanting because of how good he is in the postseason. But that was years ago and he isn’t the same pitcher anymore.
As soon as I saw you rated a mediocre pitcher like Stroman#1 you LOST ALL CREDIBILITY….
