New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge is currently sidelined with an oblique strain, so, who could step into New York and replace the slugger?
The New York Yankees suffered the worst loss of the season last Saturday in a winning effort. Aaron Judge would leave the game with what was later diagnosed as a left oblique strain. So, we look at four potential options to fill in for an injured Aaron Judge.
Nicholas Castellanos – Detroit Tigers
The Detroit Tigers are a rebuilding team who are just trying to quantify the assets they have moving forward.
They are still under the albatross contract of Miguel Cabrera and don’t have much on a farm system. But the one asset that they still possess is Nicholas Castellanos. Castellanos hasn’t gotten off to the best start this season. But a move to a team looking to contend for a World Series crown might just be the perk up Nicholas needs.
A career .274 hitter Castellanos will give the Yankees a player that can not just hit for power but also a decent average as well.
David Peralta- Arizona Diamondbacks
One of the most underrated players in Major League Baseball is that of the Arizona Diamondbacks, David Peralta. The lefty-swinging outfielder would be a welcomed addition to the depleted outfield of the Bronx Bombers and with the Diamondbacks not expected to compete this season.
The Yankees could potentially strike a deal for Peralta. And even when the injured Yankees begin to trickle back, Peralta’s bat would keep him in the lineup.
Clint Frazier- New York Yankees
Yes, Clint is already a Yankee, and he’s getting a ton of time with all the injuries. But when the injured Yankees start to get healthy, it is imperative that the Yankees management team continue to give Frazier the first opportunity. Frazier has spent a lot of time in the Minor Leagues since his acquisition in 2016.
Mostly, because there hasn’t been a spot for him to play and when he’s gotten a small opportunity he hasn’t delivered the expected performances. But with his confidence admittedly “at an all-time high” now is the time for Clint Frazier to step up and grab hold of a starting outfield job.
However, with Frazier now on the injured list, it is unknown how this will affect his hot streak.
