The Yankees have reportedly signed reliever Adam Ottavino to a three-year contract in order to help solidify an already strong bullpen.
According to Robert Murray of the Athletic, the Yankees are reportedly closing in on a three-year deal that would bring right-handed reliever Adam Ottavino to the Bronx and help solidify a bullpen that is already strong.
The right-hander spent last season with the Colorado Rockies where he broke out on the scene and made a name for himself as one of the top relief pitchers in the game. Following the season, he even went on record saying that he could strike out Babe Ruth.
In 2018, Adam Ottavino sported a 0.6 HR/9, giving up only five home runs in 77.2 innings pitched. Rarely giving up the long ball, which makes him almost a perfect fit to join the Yankees.
The major reason as to why is his stuff is lights out is because his slider is one of the best in the game. Last year he threw a few sliders that reached over 3000 rpm, in terms of spin rate. That kind of spin is rarely achieved by anyone. He is also a native New Yorker that is likely thrilled to be playing in his hometown.
