Of all Miguel Andujar trade rumors, the latest one seems to have the most traction which includes the Yankees sending him to San Diego.
Will the Yankees trade away Miguel Andujar? If they sign Manny Machado the answer very well may be yes. There have been numerous rumors of teams interested in the Yankees young slugger, but the latest seems to have real traction.
Multiple reports have linked the San Diego Padres to Andujar.
According to Fancred’s Jon Heyman San Diego “loves” the Yankee third-baseman.
Of all the possible Andujar suitors the Padres would have the most to offer.
No farm system is rated higher than San Diego’s. They have minor league gems all around the diamond and on the mound and could offer a trade that the Yankees can’t possibly pass up.
There are two different types of packages the Yankees could offer. One being the typical prospect package and one being a mix of MLB depth and prospects.
Here are two proposals from San Diego that would make plenty of sense for the Bombers.
Trade Option A:
Padres Get: 3B Miguel Andujar, RP Tommy Kahnle
Yankees Get: SP Chris Paddack, SP Logan Allen C/1B Austin Allen
This prospect package would be quite the return for the Yankees. Paddack (5) and Allen (8) are two of the Padres top ten prospects, and both were ranked in the MLB’s top 100 prospect list.
The Yankees badly need starting pitching depth in their farm system and would get two starters who could help them in the future. They also could ask for the Padres 25th ranked prospect Austin Allen. Allen hit .290 in Double-A in 2018 and can be a reliable bench option for the Yankees in the near future.
Yankees: All I Want For Christmas Is A $300 Million Dollar Payroll
This trade would provide the Padres with their man in Andujar and also give them Tommy Kahnle who seems to need a change of scenery to regain his 2017 dominant form.
Trade Option B:
Padres Get: 3B Miguel Andujar, SP Sonny Gray, OF Jacoby Ellsbury
Yankees Get: 1B Eric Hosmer, SP Chris Paddack
Let’s get creative. What if the Yankees trade a big contract for a big contract and steal Eric Hosmer?
Hosmer’s first year in San Diego wasn’t pretty but his day’s in Kansas City prove that was likely a fluke.
Hosmer is a career .280 hitter and multiple time gold-glove award winner who also is seasoned in big games as he appeared in the 2014 and 2015 World Series with the Royals earning a ring in 2015.
He would provide the Yankees with a left-handed bat in the middle of the order for a reasonable price if the Padres take on the contract of Jacoby Ellsbury.
The Yankees along with Andjuar could also offer San Diego, Sonny Gray. The Padres have expressed interest in Gray among other starting pitchers all offseason. Thus, throwing him in could make this deal to great to pass up for San Diego.
Will the Yankees really move Andujar? All will depend on the Machado decision coming in 2019 if the Yankees do ink him dig deep into the Padres as a Miguel Andujar trade partner.
