Yankees: Miguel Andujar Named Rookie of the Month

Yankees rookie third baseman Miguel Andujar has just been named the American League Rookie of the Month for June.

The New York Yankees are off to a spectacular start to their season and a key contributor to their success has been the rookie phenom at third base, Miguel Andujar.

Andujar has done it all for New York since arriving on the scene in April to replace an injured Brandon Drury. The 23-year old has been electric with his bat, seemingly getting an extra-base hit every time he steps up to the plate.

The third baseman leads all rookies this season in extra-base hits with 37 and is currently tied for the top spot in RBIs. In his impressive month of June, Andujar batted .264, laced six doubles, launched seven home runs, and drove in 20 RBIs.

As the season progresses and Andujar is showing the league what he is truly made of, he is potentially setting himself up for an all-star appearance in his first big league season.

No one could have expected the 23-year old to break out on the scene like he has and force Brandon Drury to Triple-A duty, but Miguel Andujar just continues to shine and Rookie of the Month honors only make what he is doing all that more significant.
