Following Sunday afternoon’s victory against the Blue Jays, the Yankees are now two games over .500 and look the best they have all season.
- Toronto Blue Jays: 1 (13-8)
- New York Yankees: 5 (11-9)
- American League, FINAL
- Yankee Stadium, Bronx, New York
The Yankees could finally be getting things going with their second straight victory and taking the four-game set in the Bronx against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Luis Severino took the mound for the Yankees and was the definition of lights out. He lasted seven strong innings while only giving up one run on three hits while striking out six batters.

The Yankees couldn’t have asked for any better from Severino, he just continues to impress more and more every time he takes the rubber. The right-hander has no lowered his season ERA to 2.32.
New York’s lineup would make sure that Severino’s stellar start didn’t go to waste, scoring five runs against Toronto’s pitching staff.
The offense began in the first inning with a solo home run to right field from Didi Gregorius for his sixth of the year to give the Yankees an early lead. Austin Romine followed up in the next inning with an RBI-double which scored two to give Severino some breathing room.
Miguel Andujar continued to be red-hot with an RBI-double of his own in the sixth which really broke the score open and tallied on two more runs for the Yankees. Didi Gregorius would also record a sac-fly in the seventh to give New York five runs on the day.
Unfortunately for highly-touted prospect Gleyber Torres, he was unable to record his first career hit in his debut, going 0-for-4.
David Robertson got in an inning of work for the eighth, only allowing one hit and striking out one.
Aroldis Chapman came in for the ninth in a non-save situation but was still able to sit the Blue Jays down without surrendering any hits and send Yankees fans home happy.
